Is Notes 8 and Domino 8 ready for prime time?

Should your organization use it now?

Domino:

I have tried to install Domino on 4 different Windows machines. Only on one did it work without any problems in either the installer or when the server starts. On a Linux box it almost worked correctly.

I don't think I have have had such problems since 4.6. I Domino has always been a breeze.

Notes 8

It is slow, borrows a lot of RAM ..and I'm not sure it gives it all back to you in the end! :-)

For the short periode I have used Notes 8 I have experienced different kind of problems.

As simple as changing properties under Preferences ...and Notes 8 returns with an error saying there where some illegal values, not which and where..and all I really did was change some simple values..

I guess this sums up the quality of Notes 8 for now:

If I click on one of the Productivity tools icons on my XP desktop Notes 8 starts and thinks for a while and ends with a blank page...with a Nullpointer exeception. Really??

I would NOT use for anything serious for now in any organization ..it is just not ready, but I do understand from a commercial point, IBM may have to release it now.

Take 8 as an inspiration and wait for 8.01 or 8.02.
